Dear Log Cabin friends:

We are into December now & the snow keeps coming down, covering the brown earth with a lovely (?) blanket of pristine white. It is wonderful to look at from inside my home, with a candle burning, the soup pot on, & a CD playing wonderful Christmas music. Yes, I’m in the Christmas spirit except --- I’m not fond of snow. The cold & the snow makes it hard for people to travel these roads to do their Christmas shopping-- And there is so much going on in the days of December that it’s hard to fit everything in. The Christmas cards aren’t sent yet, and there are a couple of parties yet, as well as my mom’s 85th birthday celebration, and ----- THERE IS THE CHRISTMAS TOUR here at our Log Cabin home. Everything is in place for the tour – I’ve changed some things, just added a different primitive cupboard in the foyer last week too, so all in all, I am pleased with the way things are shaping up. The weatherman & Mother Nature I MUST have a talk with yet --- we want good weather for the tour!!

I’VE made are some last minute notes before the month closes out so be sure to read to the end of the letter, before you put it down, as there just might be something in it you’ll need to know!

And there are only 1 ½ days we are open yet before we close down for Christmas. We’ve been writing out gift certificates – so keep that in mind, as well as our wonderful Log Cabin candles, the 2008 Herb Garden calendar, Santa’s that are different every year so add to your collection, plus other unique ideas.

We thank you for being a part of the Log Cabin & we want to wish you a wonderful, joyous and peaceful Holiday. December Blessings, Twila, Cabin Keeper- PS Below - Snowy Day at the Log Cabin

HOME TOUR- MY HOME ON DECEMBER 16

We will open our home for a Candlelight tour on Dec. 16, a Sunday evening, 5:30 -7 p.m. We’ve had so many requests to do this once more. Plan to come, call now to reserve your ticket at the door. Tickets are $10 each. ( I will “match” the tickets sold & give to charity – The Friendship Home.) Call me to reserve your ticket & pick it up at the door (792-3178).( If you are planning to pick up ticket at door, we must know ahead of time & so we don’t create a “bottleneck” at the front door please have the correct $ as change will not be made).

NOTE: PLEASE no cell phones or cameras, thank you. Ideas/handouts will be available. You may need to remove shoes, so bring a dry pair to put on in house along with a plastic bag for wet ones to be carried in. You will need to wear shoes in the house as steps are rustic. Also bring a flashlight to see your way along the path. The parking area (front meadow), will be snowy or muddy with the snows we’ve been getting.

If really bad weather on Sunday evening: we will have a bad weather date of Thurs, the 20th, at 5:30 p.m. You may call me to check if in question (792-3178) but we will try our best to have it on the 16th.

MAKES ME SMILE: Three wise women would have asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver the baby, brought practical gifts, cleaned the stable, made a casserole, and there would be Peace on Earth.

SUE’S CHRISTMAS OATMEAL COOKIES

(For grandsons, I like to add ½ to 1 c. mini choc. chips & some cinnamon – T.)

Drop by full teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet & bake 12-15 min, 350 degree oven.( Watch as they can turn brown very quickly)- let cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Delicious! Thanks Sue H.

CHRISTMAS waves a magic want over this world, & behold, everything is softer & more beautiful.

IDEA
I like to make luminaries without the sack. I use a jar, such as mayonnaise or peanut butter jar, & spray with glass frost from craft store. Inside I place 2 inches sand & then put in either a votive or a 6 hr. tea light inside. It is a wonderful soft look.

THE ONLY TRUE GIFT IS A PORTION OF THYSELF – Emerson
